Hello, my name is Deborah Doss. I am a mother, a Montessori Preschool Teacher, and the Director/Owner of American River Montessori.

We strive to provide a stimulating environment so your child can develop to his or her fullest potential. To do this, we teach by the Montessori philosophy. Dr. Maria Montessori discovered that children – especially preschoolers – learn through their five senses. Dr. Montessori developed individual learning tasks or “jobs” to promote active learning for daily life, sensorial skills, language, math, art and culture.

In addition, our curriculum includes Spanish instruction, a Music Together® program, a yoga program, and our Garden of Learning.

American River Montessori opened on June 1, 2008. This Montessori Preschool and Kindergarten is in a newly-built environment with a large outdoor setting located in Historic Old Town Folsom. We offer a school year program (September to May or all year round) with enrollment open to children 2-½ to 6 years. Applications are considered without regard to race, color, religion, national or ethnic origins. Children are not required to be toilet trained. Five-day, three-day, and two-day programs are being offered at three hours per session with morning, mid-day, and afternoon sessions.

We also offer year-round tutoring services for kids Pre-K through 6th grade, summer academic and fun camps for various ages, and special events throughout the year.

American River Montessori is a qualified provider of the licensed Music Together Preschool program, committing to include music as an essential part of its core curriculum.
