School Year Programs
Our academic school
year (September to May) offers programs for Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten,
and Kindergarten to students 2-1/2 to 6-years-old.
We believe children
should have a rich learning environment that supports the development
of the entire child. Your child will experience a prepared environment
with "jobs" (Montessori-style learning tasks) designed
for the development of practical life, language, sensorial,
math and cultural skills and knowledge. After observing your
child in our prepared environment we provide individualized
support for your child in acquiring academic and social skills,
and we have scheduled parent-teacher
conferences to discuss your child's status and progress. School
year programs include Music
Together®, our Garden of Learning, and yoga. Spanish
and Mandarin language sessions are offered as optional add-ons.
Kindergarten instruction
is individually paced in order to meet or exceed California
state standards for Kindergarten knowledge targets. Pre-Kindergarten
instruction is based upon many of the same instructional materials
and is individually paced to meet the primary goal of "Kindergarten
readiness," and the secondary goal of achieving Kindergarten
knowledge targets. Since these are more academically challenging
programs than preschool, and because we are committed to our
students' success, we require that Kindergarten students be
at least 5 years old by December 2nd of the year in which they
enroll for Kindergarten. While we do not have a specific age
requirement for Pre-Kindergarten, we recommend that Pre-K students
be 3-1/2 to 4-years-old and be academically and emotionally
prepared for this type of instruction.
Parent participation
is not required for attendance at American River Montessori
-- we recognize that not every parent's schedule can accommodate
this. However, we strongly encourage parent participation in
classes, parent-teacher conferences, and school events -- parent
participation correlates strongly with student success.
School year programs
are all based upon an annual term tuition agreement, and we
offer several installment options. Those listed below are for
the 2011-12 school year:

Enrollment is for a full
annual term (term amount is pro-rated for students who
enroll after the beginning of the school term -- see below).
Registration fee, materials fees, and first installment
are due upon enrollment. Registration and materials fees
are non-refundable. Installment payments under the 12,
10, 9 and 4-installment plans are generally non-refundable
for early cancellation. Partial refunds for early cancellation
may be available under the 2 and 1-installment options.
Please ask for details.
*Preschool students may attend morning, afternoon, or
all-day. Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten students may
attend afternoon or all-day. The tuition for all-day instruction
is at 180% of the listed single-session rate.
** An annual registration and materials fee of $150 (for
Preschool) or $250 (for Pre-K or Kindergarten) is due
upon enrollment. An annual materials fee of $50 for the
Music Together program is due upon enrollment. Spanish/Mandarin
instruction is an optional program -- please ask for details.
***The total term and first installment amounts for students
who begin attendance later than the start of the school
year will be pro-rated according to the number of calendar
days missed, not to be less than 3 months for the remainder
of the school year (i.e., a student who begins after March
1st will be charged for all of March, April & May).
****We offer a 5% sibling discount for a child who has
a sibling attending at an equal or greater total rate
(one discounted rate per each full rate).
*****Please note that all day and session slots are available
on a payment-reserved basis -- we are unable to guarantee
a particular schedule until registration and materials
fees and an initial installment payment are received.
******We accept payment by cash, check, money order, Visa,
or MasterCard. Payments are due on the 1st day of the
indicated months. Payments not received by the 10th day
of the indicated months are considered late and may be
assessed a 10% late fee. Payments not received by the
15th day of the month may result in the child being dropped
from the program until the account is brought current
(unless separate arangements are made). If any of the
above dates fall on a weekend or holiday the due date
is extended to the next business day.

a modest tuition discount to a limited number of parents who
wish to commit to classroom help time for their children or
to help at other times with things such as classroom and materials
preparation, classroom and grounds maintenance, assistance with
special event preparation, etc. -- please contact us for specifics.
